Air Chemistry Laboratory

The Air Chemistry Laboratory is located at the forward end of the foredeck. The laboratory is used primarily for underway atmospheric chemistry sampling.

The Air Chemistry Laboratory takes atmospheric air via the air sampling mast after passing through the Aerosol Laboratory. This laboratory also contains the greenhouse gas spectrometer system, a high-precision instrument that measures and analyses the atmospheric trace gases: carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, carbon monoxide and water vapour.

RV Investigator has two dedicated atmospheric laboratories and a suite of atmospheric instruments that continually collect atmospheric data when underway.

Aerosol Laboratory

The Aerosol Laboratory is located in the bow of the ship at the base of the foremast, with a direct atmospheric air feed.
