Primary Application call for sea time on RV Investigator to open soon
The CSIRO Marine National Facility (MNF) offers fully funded grants of sea time on research vessel (RV) Investigator to conduct excellent research of national benefit. These grants are made available through the Granted Voyage Program funded by the Australian Government.
A Primary Application call will shortly be made for fully funded grants of sea time on RV Investigator in the 2025-26 financial year. These applications will be used to build the Primary Voyage Schedule for that year.
Who can apply for sea time?
To be eligible to make an application, the applicant (Principal Investigator) must be employed by an Australian research organisation and be based in Australia. However, collaboration, with both national and international partners, is highly regarded and encouraged in all applications. Co-Investigators named in the application can be from overseas research organisations or work abroad for Australian research organisations.
Applications are to be made under one of five access Streams that encourage a broad range of research and ensure national benefit.
The application process will use our online Marine Application and Planning System, MAPS. If you are considering applying for sea time, we encourage you to complete the registration process to create your account in MAPS at this time.
How are applications assessed?
Applications will be competitively assessed by independent committees against criteria of research quality and national benefit.
Allocations of sea time will be subject to operational and funding availability for research days in that schedule.
