COVID management on RV Investigator

While delivering great science is important, the safety and wellbeing of CSIRO’s people and partners on board research vessel (RV) Investigator will always be our number one priority.

In these challenging and uncertain times, CSIRO’s Marine National Facility (MNF) has put in place strict voyage COVID management protocols to help reduce risks of potential infection to participants and crew onboard RV Investigator.

There are currently a range of measures undertaken before and during a voyage to protect our participants and partners against COVID. These include:

  • mandatory vaccination for all participants
  • 3-phase PCR testing of participants for COVID prior to them boarding the vessel
  • 7-day on-shore quarantine period prior to participants boarding the vessel.

Our Voyage COVID Management Protocols align with the best available medical advice and support a best practice approach to protecting the health and safety of voyage participants, crew and the community.

In the lead up to a voyage, our MNF team supply all participants with relevant COVID protocol information to ensure they are well-prepared and supported ahead of their voyage.
