Investigator has the capacity for 13 containers that can be used for mobile laboratories, storage (equipment and samples) and special purpose rooms (e.g. medical facility).

Foredeck Level 2

2 x shipping container positions
Services – Scientific air, power and data
Power – 2 x 32A 415V AC 3 phase 50Hz, 2 x 15A 240VAC 50Hz

Close to air chemistry and aerosol laboratories so well suited for atmospheric research or storage.

Aft deck Level 2

3 x shipping container positions or space for incubation tank or ramp pontoon storage
1 x half size shipping container
Services – Power, raw sea water, fresh water, data
Power – 1 x 32A 415V AC 3 phase 50Hz, 3 x 15A 240VAC 50Hz

On remote voyages one space is reserved for a medical container.

Aft Forecastle deck Level 1

2 x shipping container positions above two container positions on the aft main deck.

General science container positions for users who do not require access from the main deck. They are connected to the superstructure to enable all weather access to ship interior.

General science or storage container positions with direct access to the main deck. The containers are also connected to superstructure to enable all weather access to main deck laboratories. 

Aft Platform deck

4 x shipping container positions

Power – 4 x 32A 415V AC 3 phase 50Hz, 4 x 15A 240VAC 50Hz

General science or storage container positions. A flush main deck hatch permits lifting of equipment in and out of the starboard side container location. Access to these containers from the main deck is restricted.
